Steve Irwin made world wide news when he was tragically killed in a freak sting ray accident off the Queensland coast. “The Crocodile hunter” was speared through the heart and died soon after due to his heart being speared. Steve owned Australia zoo where he fed crocodiles and other animals which he rescued and made a home for in his zoo. He tought teachers of the zoo through live demonstrations.
Thousands attended his memorial at Australia zoo. Some radical Steve irwin fanatics called for sting rays to have their tails cut off but Steves widow Terri said that this wasn’t what steve would have wanted. Steve hosted a tv show on animal planet where it showed him rescuing animals from poor inclosures, and in the wild. He also did shows at his zoo or just having fun exploring places. e.g jungles and swamps for animals.
Irwin also stared in the movie Crocodile collision in 2001. Up until 1991 the running of the park was a family buisness until 2002 when it was turned over to Steve he renamed it Australia Zoo.He also appeared on a number of tv shows such as Tonight With Jay Leno. In 1992 he met and married Terri Irwin.
Although Steve is gone his message will live on through his friends who work at the zoo and now run it. The “Crikey” fund has been started in honour of Steve’s death to Save wildlife world wide.
On September 11 2001 there were two planes that crashed into the world trade center hijacked by terrorists under the influence of Al Qaeda. The planes where two passenger planes heading for Los Angelas. There were 9 terrorists responsible for these attacks.
The terrorists were radical extremist muslims. They took over the planes by killing the pilots with utility knives suggled aboard the planes, thye also killed one of passengers to stop other passengers from coming into the cockpit by scaring them.
Two of the terrorists were trained in smuggling weapons past border securtiy. Two other terrorist were trained to use knives and two other were trained to fly commercial airplanes. The leader of the terrorists was influenced by Osama Bin Laden to carry out the terroritst attacks in the name of the Muslim religion. The Muslim
Recently I watched a movie called The Longest Yard. This movie was a remake of the 1974 movie. The movie stars Paul Crewe (Adam Sandler) as a retired NFL player who was fired for throwing a game. He is then sent to jail for drink driving
At the jail he is hated by everyone and beaten up by the guards. The warden of the jail owns a football team with the guards as the players. He wants Paul to try to help his team and give him the edge. The warden ends up forcing Paul Crewe to put together a team made up from prisoners to verse the guards in a tune up game to increase the guards confidence.
Paul and his new friend caretaker manage to put together a team of uneducated degenertaes but realise they need better players. So they try to get better players from other prisons. After getting their “all star” team together basically everyone is just in the team to get back at the guards.
When the day of the game comes the “Mean Machine” team are fighting for revenge. But Paul Crewe is approached by the warden just before the game and told that if he doesn’t throw the game he will spend the rest of his life in prison. Paul is then left with a task to learn the respect of his teammates by trying to win the game or spend the left of his life prison.
I really enjoyed this movie and i bet you will to i give it a 8.5/10
74198Last week at Carlingford High School there were Matinae Performances and an art excibition. Years seven, eight and nine attended the performances as well as view all the pictures and sculptures that where in the hall.
The types of performances that where on the day where solo dances, two people dances and three people, Singers and people in plays. There where several combinations of dances and songs as well.
Some of my artwork was on display in the hall. My “cool dude” and my picture. Some of the performances where a play called ” Bats Make Me Crazy”, a play called “Buttefly Wings” (sorry about the wrong name it was something like that i think), a play about how everyone in the world should treat each other right, a song about a woman and many other things.
When all the plays,songs and dances where over we had to go outside again. I enjoyed this very much and wish that something similar could be done in the near future.
Lat wendesday at Carlingford High School was the date international day. A day when all people from any culture and background come together to celebrate.
The day started out as normal except that everyone was aloud to wear mufty. ( normal clothes) Everyone was encouraged to wear clothes form the international group that they selected. I selected Germany so i wore the colours of the german flag.
I wore a red shirt with a black jumper and black and orange pants. The first two periods of school where normal except for people of groups who were setting up stalls. Recess was normal as well but in period three we all had to go into the hall for some international dances, songs, plays and fashion parades.
After the International festives we where all free to go througout the school for the rest of the day. To eat i had some lasagna, a sausage and some chocolate pudding. After the one and a half hour feast we all had to clean up an area of the school. Our group the german group had to clean up the b block courtyard until the day was over.
On March sevententh each year St Patrick’s day is celebrated. St Patrick’s day is a day is a day of feast to celebrate the saint of Ireland St Patrick. This holiday is celebrated world wide by Irish people everywhere and also by some non Irish people. It is mainly celebrated by christian’s but sometimes non christians celebrate as well.
St Patrick’s day first became a public holiday in 1903. In the middle of the 1990’s the Irish government first started making celebrations for St Patrick’s day.It is also traditional to wear green on St Patrick’s day and wear other traditional irish items such as clover’s. St Patricks was a misionary sent from Ireland to try and convert others of the catholic faith. In Ireland St Patrick is seen as a hero.
On the 24th of May the first annual state of origin match was played at Telstra Stadium. The usually favoured Blues were in doubt after sustaining some injures from key players and that Andrew Johns wasn’t playing state of origin games anymore made it look as though Queensland was going to win the first game.
The first half started very evenly matched between the two sides until Finch managed to sneak a try in under the posts. It only got worse from there on for Queensland as Willie Mason charged through the maroons lin to score N.S.W’s second try. It looked as though it was going to be twelve nil at half time but Matt King made a brilliant effort to score a try in the corner. The half ending fourteen to nil N.S.W’s way.
The second half started differently though as the maroons were finally on the score board after fifty one minutes courtesy of Justin Hodges. The Queenslanders scored again thanks to a cut out pass led thurston in for the Maroons second try. The Blues scored again quickly thanks to a penalty goal from a punch up that went the Blues way. Thurston scored his secondly quickly with less then ten minutes to go to even the scores at sixteen all. With three minutes left every thought that the game would go into extra time until Finch kicked a fourty maetre field goal to win the match for the Blues and take out game one.
I saw the movie Goal! a couple of months ago in the cinemas with my brother and a couple of friends. The basic story of this movie is that a young Mexican boy is illegally immigrated into the United States of America. He grows up normaly but with a brilliant talent for soccer. When he is in his mid twenties he is recognised by a scout from the huge English club Newcastle United. He is offered to go over to England to try out. His mother wants him to go but his father doesn’t believe he will make it and disagrees with him going. Eventually he is given enough money to fly to England by his mother.
He is tried out in England and excepted to paly for the reserve side but he would move up quickly to the starting side. He soon manages to score a winning goal in the final match of the season to put Newcastle United into fourth place meaning that they qualify for the Champions league.
There are real players from several clubs in this movie such as Raul, Shearer and Beckham.
In my opinion this movie was interesting and well constructed. I would give this movie a eight out of ten. I am looking forward to seeing the sequel to this movie.
When i first learned that we had to do a speech for english it immediately made me feel bad because I REALLY DON’T LIKE SPEECH’S! The teacher said that we could a speech that went for two to three minutes and that we could do the speech on a subject of my choice. The speech was due the next week.
The first idea that popped into my head was chocolate. A couple of days later I stayed home sick but I was only allowed to stay home if I did my whole speech. About an hour later I was done with a minute and a half speech. I was satisfied with the quality of my speech.
On the day that the speech was due i felt relieved because I was one of the few people who we didn’t have enough time to do in one lesson. on the actual day of the speech i was nervous again and I think it showed in my speech as I was swaying a bit.
Overall in my opinion it wasn’t a great speech but it was ok, I just hope my teacher thinks that it was good.
Chocolate is a delicous food that is used in many foods. The word cocao meaning chocolate is believed to have come from at least a few thousand years ago. Chocolate is a processed food which is full of sugar and fats, it also contains caffeine. This is the main reason why most people think that chocolate is extremely bad for you but this is not always true.
It is believed that chocolate may be good for you because it contains some antoxidants. Chocolate is so addictive because it contains xanthine. It is also a comfort food which means that it calms people down and makes them feel good about themselves.
Out of all the chocolates it is believed that dark chocolate is the best for you. Being overweight may not damage your joints but it may hurt them. Many people are sueing chocolate companys because they are blaming them for their own obesity and health problems.
In my opinion chocolate should only be eaten in small ammounts and either not very often or on special occasions.
